Policy information

A board level policy meets the fiduciary responsibilities of the board to manage oversight of health and safety related risks and ensures compliance with applicable provincial and federal health and safety related legislation and regulations, including, but not limited to, the BC Workers Compensation Act.

The former existing policy was very basic with an associated “Responsibility for Health and Safety” procedure. Health and Safety Services developed new draft material that was put into the Framework template. The “Responsibility for Health and Safety” document was decoupled from the policy because it is more of an operational document and to allow it to be updated more easily. An updated version has been developed by Health and Safety Services and will become a departmental document.
