Guidelines on submitting agenda items to Curriculum Committee

Changes to Existing Programs:

<<<COVID-19 UPDATE:  BEFORE filling out the Request for Program Change form, please note the instructions below on the new process in lieu of gathering signatures on the last page of the form.

NEW PROCEDURE:

Please use the regular Program Change Request form at the link below these instructions but do not try to fill in the last page with signatures.  Instead, here are the approval emails that we'd need--sent to curric@viu.ca, please:

1) an email from the proponent (dept chair usually) saying their department approves the proposal for XXXX [need to give the full name of the exact credential/program the proposal is about, like "Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care"].

If there are multiple proposals coming from the same proponent, then the proponent's email could list all of the proposals by name, rather than sending individual emails for each one.

2) an email from the dean, saying that:

a) Faculty Council approved the XXXX proposal [full name of the credential/program again] on XXX date, and

b) that they as dean approve the XXXX proposal [full name again] on XXX date.

If there are multiple proposals coming from the same Faculty, then the dean's email could list all of them rather than sending individual emails for each proposal.

Please let me know if you have any questions at curric@viu.ca.  The template is available at the link here:
