Preparing for the Election Meeting - Vice-Chair of Senate
The following is a brief procedure on how to prepare for the election meeting:
- Place “election of Vice-Chair” under Elections Committee Report - see a sample agenda
- Prepare ballots the Vice-Chair in the event an election is required. The ballot box is contained in the locked cupboard in the Library Boardroom. See a sample ballot
- Results of the election are recorded in the minutes. Some suggestions for wording are as follows:
- Elected by Acclamation: The Chair called for nominations for the position of Vice-Chair. Jane Boe was nominated and elected Vice-Chair by acclamation
- Nominations were called for the position of Vice-Chair. Two nominations were made with the second nominee withdrawing in support of the first nomination. Greg Foe was elected Vice-Chair by acclamation
- Or
- Elected by Ballot Vote: The Chair called for nominations for the position of Vice-Chair. Jane Boe was nominated and elected Vice-Chair by acclamation
- Nominations were called for the position of Vice-Chair. Two nominations were made and accepted, and an election by ballot was held, with the President, Vice-President Academic, and Recording Secretary as scrutineers. Votes were counted, and Greg Foe was elected and declared Vice-Chair
