University Secretariat

As the senior advisor on governance and associated legislative matters, the University Secretary reports to the President. The University Secretary provides leadership and expertise to assist with effective operation and administration of the University's collegial, bicameral system of governance, headed by the Board of Governors and the Senate.

The primary duties of the University Secretary include:

  • Enabling effective communication between Board and Senate.
  • Promoting quality working relationships between Board and Senate and the University administration.
  • Interpretation of legislation, policies, procedures, and bylaws.
  • Management of institutional policies, procedures, and bylaws.
  • Interpretation and management of FIPPA on behalf of the President.

These duties are carried out in conjunction with the supervision of staff who support Board and Senate, and other special projects as assigned by the President.
