What Are Student Impact Projects?
Student Impact Projects give VIU students short-term, meaningful projects that help build skills while supporting the important work happening across our faculties. These projects are funded through the VIU Foundation.
Students are awarded for taking part in a project. Awards are paid directly to the students in two parts—once halfway through the semester and again at the end.
When can I submit a project?
Project postings for the fall semester open each spring. Spring opportunities will be posted in the fall, details to follow.
Submission deadline: May 15
During this time, faculties and departments can submit projects they would like a student to support in the upcoming fall term.
How to submit a project
Submitting a project is simple. Here’s what to do:
- Work with your Dean’s Office
- Review the project submission form.
- Discuss your project idea and confirm your Dean’s Office has reviewed and approved your project.
- Submit the Project Posting Form
- Once your form is submitted, the project will be sent to the Office of the Provost for posting.
- Wait for student applications
- After projects are posted, students can apply directly through a simple form.
- The Office of the Provost will send the list of applicants to your Dean to review.
- Select your student
You will contact the applicants to let them know they were selected.
